More than just trying it out! Within one day, the entry into ice climbing is brought closer. The technique training and top-rope climbing take place in a relaxed environment in the ice climbing garden. The focus is on safely placing crampons and ice tools. After the lunch break, we approach one of the numerous waterfalls in and around Heiligenblut. At least one rope length of the waterfall is climbed, giving you a firsthand insight into the fascination of this sport. The winter environment of a frozen waterfall is something unique, and the perspectives gained while climbing leave a lasting impression on everyone.
Requirements:
"Sport climbing experience is beneficial but not essential, good physical condition, stamina for 300 meters of ascent per hour.
After the introductory round, there will be a comprehensive introduction to ice climbing. The equipment (crampons, ice axes, ice screws, etc.) and their use will be discussed in detail and adjusted. In a specially set up technique course, the correct ice climbing technique will be learned from scratch, as this is particularly important in this sport. After that, extensive practice and trial will take place at top-rope stations, along with valuable tips and tricks under guidance. After the lunch break, we will approach a suitable waterfall. As a complete rope team, we will climb into the waterfall with you and climb at least one full rope length up. In the process, you will learn how to remove ice screws and get to know the appropriate belay system. Then we will rappel down the waterfall (actively or passively) and descend to the starting point.
